First-time users
Those who live, work, or attend school in Tokyo's 23 cities are eligible to check out materials from the library. Bring your ID such as a driver's license, insurance card, company ID, or school ID for issuing your library card. You will be issued a library card on the spot.

An ALM is placed at each library.
To Return
All materials borrowed can be returned to any of
the five Minato City libraries. Please take them to
the library counter. Alternatively, use the Book
Return Box to return books or magazines after
hours or on days when the libraries are closed. A
Book Return Box is also located at the entrance of
the Lifelong Learning Center, 3-16-3 Shimbashi
and at the entrance of the Pool Complex at the
Minato Sports Center 3-1-19 Shibaura except for
the period from Dec. 28 to Jan. 3.
<Note> CDs, video tapes, DVDs and materials borrowed from other libraries cannot be returned
in the Book Return Box. Please return them to the
appropriate library counter.
Internet service
You can search, reserve, and renew library materials
using the Internet. To use the Internet service, a
temporary password is required.
Libraries provide computers with Internet
connections. Searchable databases of newspaper
articles, laws and legislation-related information,
or court precedents are also available.
Borrowing and returning library materials from other facilities
Library materials can be also checked out and returned via the Daiba Civic Center Library and the reference room of the Minato City Gender Equality Center, Libra

Materials are available from the library of Temple
University Japan Campus through Minato City
libraries. Search for the materials on the Temple
University Library website and apply for them at
City Library counters.

Book-start
Open to parents/guardians of infants. This program is designed to introduce them to the joy and importance of exploring picture books with their infants. Municipal libraries will provide the parents/guardians a free picture book.

Minato City Local History Museum
It is located on the 4th floor of the Mita Library, provides exhibits of after care and research of important cultural properties There is also a "hands-onexhibition room" with whale's bone, old agricultural tools, clay pots and so on.
