Supplementary Income Payments

Minato City provides Teigaku kyufukin, Supplementary Income Payments as described below. To be eligible, you must have been recorded on the Basic Resident Register or Foreign Resident Registration Record as of Feb.1, 2009.

* Those with temporary visitor status or whose visa has expired are not eligible.
An application for the Supplementary Income Payment will be sent to each household.

Schedule

- Delivery of applications: From Monday, April 6
- Acceptance of applications: From Tuesday, April 7
- Delivery of notifications of approval postcards: From late April
- Bank account transfer of payments: From late April

From April 7 to October 7, 2009. * The date as postmarked

Requests to Minato City Residents

Minato City sends out the application form to all households including foreign residents. After the acceptance and inspection of the application, Minato City pays Supplementary Income Payments. The application must be received in the mail and payment is made by bank account transfer. If the applicant doesn't have a bank account, a cash payment is made at City Hall in the designated period. However, the payment is made in June because the service is expected to be very busy as large numbers of applications are delivered in a short period. The recipient of a cash payment must present her/his Foreign Registration Card.

Supplementary Income Payments procedure

- Each household receives an application in the mail
* For families whose members include a Japanese national, a specific form is sent for her/him to use.
- Each household writes their address, name, and bank information in the form.
(1) Identification: A copy of your Foreign Resident Registration Card
(2) Account information: A copy of your passbook or ATM card
* Your branch and account number must be shown.
Enclose (1) and (2) with the application form in the return envelop and send to City Hall.
- The city inspects the documents and enters the information into system.
- The city sends out a notification of the payment arrival.
- Money is transferred to your designated bank account.
* The entire process is expected to take one month from the submission of the applications to reception of the payment.
