 3.English publicity paper "MINATO MONTHLY"

The April issue of English publicity paper “MINATO MONTHLY” has been published. This month’s issue can be recognized by the photo of cherry blossoms. The issue introduces people actively working in the city.

The paper offers you useful information relating to the public administration and community events. If you subscribe to The Japan Times/International New York Times at your home, the paper is inserted.

It is available at the Minato City Website (http://www.city.minato.tokyo.jp/kuse/koho/minatomonthly/index.html), major municipal facilities, post offices, and some of subway stations in the City. It can be also delivered to your home if requested—please make an application using a request form (https://www.city.minato.tokyo.jp/kouhou/kuse/koho/minatomonthly/inquiry.html) or ask Minato Call (03-5472-3710).

 4.Notice about Disaster Prevention Wireless System

<Minato City has a disaster prevention wireless system>

In Minato City, speakers throughout the town will provide disaster information in the event of a disaster, such as an earthquake or tsunami. In order to check whether this equipment works, the song “Yuyake Koyake” is played every day at 5時00分 pm.

<What should I do if I can’t hear the speaker because of heavy rain or traffic noise, or if I miss what it says?>

Please call 03-5401-0742. When you call this number, you can hear an automated recording of the announcement. (Available in English, Chinese and Korean)

 5.Seeking Students for the Minato International Association Japanese Course

The Minato International Association Japanese Course begins in April.

Minato International Association offers beginner Japanese courses to foreigners who live in Minato City and the surrounding area. Students learn the basics of Japanese and the expressions they need to live their daily lives.

The course is divided into three levels.

We hope you will join us.

Course fee is 50% off for people who live, work, or go to school in Minato City.

 6.Hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador “Fantastical Ecuador” — An Exhibition of Works by Miguel Betancourt Commemorating 100 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Ecuador

This exhibition features work by the Ecuadorian artist Miguel Betancourt, world-renowned for his artistic sense and advanced technique. It is an excellent opportunity to learn about Ecuadorian culture. We hope you will come.

 7.Come see an exhibition on recycled furniture!

To promote the reuse of furniture, we host an annual Recycled Furniture Exhibition. The exhibited furniture will be on sale for prices ranging from 1,000 JPY to 10,000 JPY, depending on type and quality. (You must pay your own fees to transport any purchases you make.) The pieces are available for anyone to purchase, so we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity!

Each household limited to one purchase of up to two items.

You may not purchase items with the intent to resell them at a profit.

Items may not be held by telephone or sold by mail order.

 8.Indoor school pools within Minato City available for use

☆People who live and work in Minato City can use the indoor pools at schools in the city☆

We hope you will take advantage of them if you are feeling tired and need to be refreshed.

[Eligibility] Anyone with a personal registration card who lives or works in Minato City (no card required for children in junior high school and younger).

Please bring any of the following forms of identification. You may begin to use the pool starting the date you provide identification.

For Minato City residents: An ID that shows your name and address (driver’s license, health insurance card, resident card, etc.)

For people who work in Minato City: An ID that shows your company address and your (the user’s) name (employee ID, health insurance card, work certificate, etc.)

A business card is not sufficient ID to sign up.

Thursday, Friday: 5時00分 pm – 8時00分 pm
