 1.MINATO Bosai Festa—Let's experience "Bosai" in English and easy Japanese

※The key word is "Bosai," meaning preparation for and risk reduction of disaster.

How much do you know about disaster prevention? Do you know what you should do in case of a disaster? Let’s take this opportunity to answer these questions and learn about disaster prevention in a fun way! The Festa will be conducted in easy Japanese and English.

① VR Disaster Prevention Vehicle Experience (1:00 pm – 3:00 pm) *Numbered tickets will be given out from 11:00 am.

② Tour of the Roppongi Hills Storehouses (1st tour: 11:30 am, 2nd tour: 12:45 pm, 3rd tour: 2:00 pm). * Limit 20 participants per tour. Each tour lasts 30 minutes.

③ Rubble rescue training (11:30 am – 11:40 am)

④ Useful handcrafts in case of emergencies corner

⑤ Disaster Prevention Information Corner (Minato City, Fire Station)

⑥ Bucket brigade

⑦ Earthquake experience vehicle

⑧ Hands-on AED experience

⑨ Smoke-filled house experience

 2.Would you like to enjoy fun conversation in Japanese? — Seeking partners for conversations with Japanese speakers —

We are offering a chance to learn practical Japanese by matching foreigners who want opportunities to speak Japanese with Japanese people who want foreign conversation partners.

You can learn living Japanese through conversation activities in Japanese.

If you have few chances to speak Japanese or want to improve, please join us!

We match foreign language speakers with Japanese speakers based on an interview and their desired gender, age, and secondary language.

After matching partners contact each other to practice Japanese conversation, any time, anywhere. We will also let you know about events in addition to partner activities where you can enjoy Japanese conversation.

 3.Introduction of shops that collaborated with us on the Commercial District Multilingual Support Improvement Project. [L’atelier Cocco] 

Minato City helps shops in the city communicate with customers in foreign languages.

This is one shop we supported.

L’atelier Cocco is a shop with a relaxed atmosphere. There are locations in Shirokane and Mita. It sells bread, pastries, and baked sweets. Their bread, made with natural yeast (which is rare in Japan), is especially good.

Whichever of the two locations you go to, you will find a wide range of products, from familiar items to those that you’ll see for the first time. There is anpan (bread with red bean jam), melon bread, chou cream, and white bread.

L’atelier Cocco is beloved by people who care about their health and delicious food. Why not come and look for your new favorite bread?

 4.Roppongi Art Night 2018

六本木アートナイト

This art festival will be held for one night only, with the Roppongi cityscape as its stage. There will be exhibitions of a variety of artwork, as well as performances. There will also be many hands-on and participatory programs.

[Venues] Roppongi Hills, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo Midtown, Suntory Museum of Art, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, The National Art Center, Roppongi Shopping District, and other public spaces and cooperating facilities in the Roppongi area.

[Admission] Free (However, some programs and art museum exhibits cost an additional fee. )

 5.Boat and walking coastal tour of the Shibaura and Konan area canals

[Eligibility] Elementary school students and older who can understand English and walk the full length of the course.

[Course] Meet at JR Shinagawa Station, Konan Exit → Shinagawa Central Garden → Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology Unyomaru → Board boat near Shin-Konan Bridge → Travel around Shibaura Canal by boat → Disembark near Aiiku Hospital → Stroll in Minato Park Shibaura

[Capacity] 30 (Chosen by lottery) * Up to one accompanying adult One application form per participant. Please note name of accompanying adult in the “Notes” section.

Yukata robes are Japanese traditional culture. Would you like to wear a yukata to a fireworks festival?

 7.Overview of Facilities in Minato City — The National Art Center 

This art museum offers a variety of exhibits utilizing Japan’s largest exhibition space. It collects materials and information related to art, exhibits and provides them, and spreads education. It is also equipped with a nursing room, childcare service (prior application required), a reastaurant/café, and a museum shop.

[Closed] Every Tuesday (If Tuesday is a national holiday or observed holiday, closed the following weekday), and during the Year-end and New Year’s holiday

[Fee] Fees apply to view exhibits. Museum entry is free.

 8.French Photo Gallery — France seen from Space — 

Minato City regularly organizes photo exhibitions to present the charms of foreign cultures and traditions to as many people as possible.

For this exhibition, we are showing photos of beautiful French scenery, including typical cities, ruins, and nature, all taken from a satellite. Experience France’s excellent photographic technology and enjoy rich scenes for France taken from a new perspective.

 10.Journey across Pakistan, a country full of surprises

Minato City regularly organizes photo exhibitions to present the charms of foreign cultures and traditions to as many people as possible.

Located between Asia and Middle East, Pakistan is home to the world’s oldest Indus civilization and an important country in human history. This photo exhibition presents the country’s current scenery, with the cooperation of the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Tokyo, Japan.
