Human Rights Week

Minato City will hold its annual Human Rights Week from December 4 through December 10. This is an important time to address and reflect on important issues concerning our rights and freedom.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, in order to ensure and respect fundamental human rights and freedom as a common standard that should be achieved for all people and countries of the world. Since then, December 10 has become an international Human Rights Day. In Japan, The Ministry of Justice and National Human Rights Committee Federation has established December 4 to 10 as “Human Rights Week” in order to raise public awareness for the respect of human rights through various events on the topic.
