Minato City works to help shops in the city support customers in foreign languages.

This is one shop we supported.

L’atelier Cocco is a comfortable shop, steeped in a natural atmosphere, with locations in Shirokane and Mita. There is anpan (bread with red bean jam), melon bread, chou cream, and white bread.

 2.Free Interpretation Service on Tablet Devices Starts at Administrative Agencies

Minato City provides free interpretation service on tablet devices at administrative agencies in the city for foreign residents who experience a language barrier.

[About the service] Foreign residents can speak with administrative officers with an interpreter displayed on a tablet device at agencies. Using a camera function of tablet device, the interpreter can also interpret letters and documents real-time.

[Languages] English, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese

[Service hour] 8:30am to 5:15pm

 (9:00am to 5:15pm for Thai, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese)

 5.Rakugo Storytelling that Delighted Overseas Audiences to be Performed

 7.Notice about Disaster Prevention Wireless System

防災行政無線

<Minato City has a disaster prevention wireless system>

In Minato City, speakers throughout the town will provide disaster information in the event of a disaster, such as an earthquake or tsunami. In order to check whether this equipment works, the song “Yuyake Koyake” is played every day at 5:00 pm.

<What should I do if I can’t hear the speaker because of heavy rain or traffic noise, or if I miss what it says?>

Please call 03-5401-0742. When you call this number, you can hear an automated recording of the announcement. (Available in English, Chinese and Korean)

 8. Overview of Facilities in Minato City — Healthena Health Promotion Center

This facility helps people 18 and older with improving their health, as well as prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related illnesses. There are a variety of health classes, and individually tailored health training programs created with doctors, registered dieticians, and health and fitness counselors.

The Himawari Medical Institution Guidance Service is an automated service available 24 hours a day to guide you to medical institutions. Simply provide your location and desired examination type, date, and time, etc. to search for medical institutions in Tokyo on the Internet or your cell phone. We hope you will take advantage of this service.

If you want to learn kanji or brush up on your Japanese, why not learn Japanese with new friends?

[Dates & Time] January 27; February 3, 10, 17, and 24; and March 3, 10, and 17, 2019 (every Sunday), 1:30 pm – 3:10 pm

[Venue] Azabu Civic Center 2F, Meeting Room (Minato City, Roppongi 5-16-45)

[Capacity] 12 (chosen by lottery)

[Eligibility] Open to: ① Foreign residents 16 and older who ② have studied Japanese for between 36 and 80 hours, or who can read hiragana and katakana.

[Fee] 6,000 JPY (For eight lessons. Includes the cost of texts.)

[How to apply] Submit the following information either by fax or via our website.

① The class title (“Azabu Japanese Class”), ② your name, ③ your fax number, ④ your email address, ⑤ the language(s) you can speak, ⑥ the course name and number of hours for any Japanese language class you have taken
