1. Interpretation tablets now support more languages and are available in more locations!

 To promote multilingual support in Minato City, we began providing a video conferencing interpretation service using tablets in 2016.

[Interpretation Service Summary]

Using tablets, this service uses video conferencing so that interpreters can interpret conversations between foreign residents and Minato City officials. The interpreter is shown on the screen, so that both can see them, enabling smooth interpretation. If you need interpretation, please ask a staff member at the counter.

English, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, Russian, Tagalog, Nepali, Vietnamese, Indonesian

2. Temporary hours for Residents Support Section during the 10-day Golden Week holiday

Minato City will offer partial extended temporary service hours at Regional City Offices throughout the city during the 10-day holiday.

3. The Minato City Kado and Sado Federation is holding an ikebana exhibition!

We will host an ikebana exhibition by the various schools Kado (flower arrangement) in the Federation.

If you are interested in ikebana, we hope you will attend.

4. Minato City Tag Rugby Class to be held

5. Free distribution of seedlings for the Green Curtain!

Minato City is promoting the creation of Green Curtains by covering exterior walls with nets and growing climbing plants (goya, morning glory, balloon vine, etc.) like a curtain.

Green Curtains minimize the strong summer sunlight that enters buildings, keeping interior temperatures from rising. This is effective at reducing energy usage and mitigating the heat island effect.

We will distribute vine seedlings for free so that you can try it out at home. Please come pick some up!

Thursday, May 23—Eco Plaza (Hamamatsucho 1-13-1) 1F, 100 bags

Tuesday, May 28—Shibaura-konan Regional City Office (Shibaura 1-16-1), Next to 1F entrance on the Aiiku Hospital side, 300 bags

Wednesday, May 29—Takanawa Civic Center (Takanawa 1-16-25) 1F Meeting room, 400 bags

Friday, May 31—Minato City Hall (Shibakoen 1-5-25) Next to 1F entrance, 150 bags

[Time] Starts at 10:00 am (10:15 on May 18)

[Eligibility] Minato City residents (non-residents working or studying in Minato City are not eligible)

[Fee] Free (up to 2 bags per person, 1 bag contains 2 seedlings)

*Seedlings of bitter gourd, Japanese morning glory, balloon vine and sponge gourd will be available.

*Distribution will end as soon as the seedlings run out on each day.

*No reservation required. Please come directly to the venue. *Please note that numbered tickets will be distributed on Saturday, May 18. We will distribute numbered tickets for seedlings at the Eco Fair Minato 2019 distribution venue. Seedlings will be distributed by order of ticket number starting at 10:15.
