1. We will hold ‘Festival in Japan’, a Minato City project to introduce traditional culture!

We will be holding an event to present Japanese festival performing arts, such as song and dance. There will also be a Japanese drum workshop. There are English interpreters at the venue too. We hope you will come.

[Eligibility] Residents, workers and students in Minato City

[Date & Time] Sunday, November 17, 14:00 - 16:00

[Venue] Akasaka Civic Center, Citizens Hall

[Capacity] 380 (By reservation. First come, first served)

[Application] Please apply at the Minato Call (City Information Service) between Friday, October 4 and Thursday, November 7. Tel: 03-5472-3710 (*Operating hours: 9:00 - 17:00, but 14:00 - 17:00 on the first day)

2. We will hold the “Interact with Japanese Culture!” Fall Special Event!

The IUHW Tokyo Akasaka Campus International Exchange Center will be hosting the “Interact with Japanese Culture!” Fall special event.

 

There will also be a workshop with an etiquette instructor teaching Japanese manners and how to use a Furoshiki cloth to wrap things. We hope you will come.

3. Would you like to try the Bon dance?

Together let's practice the Minato City Bon dance song and the newly created "Jump! 2020". Please wear clothes and shoes that are easy to dance in. (Heels are inadvisable)

4. Enjoy the night-time! Take an autumnal night tour of the Shibaura Canal and Tokyo Bay by boat, including visits to newly illuminated bridges

Minato City Tourism Volunteer Guides will conduct free English guided tours, where you can enjoy newly illuminated bridges and night views from boat rides along canals and around Tokyo Bay. Please join the tour and enjoy a romantic evening in Tokyo during the deepening Fall season.

[Target audience] Individuals of elementary school age or above who have no problem with boat travel and can understand English

[Date & Time] (1) Wednesday, October 30, 17:00 - 17:45 (2) Sunday, November 3, 19:00 - 19:45

[Course] Meeting at the JR Tamachi Station - Boarding close to Shinshiba Bridge - Take in Shibaura Canal and the Tokyo port by boat - Come ashore to end tour close to Shinshiba Bridge

[Capacity] 30 for each date (by lottery). Write name of accompanying adult in the notes section.

5. Why not take a stroll through the Azabujuban shopping district?

Minato City Tourism Volunteer Guides provide free guided tours in English of shops dating back to the Edo period, other shops with a Shōwa era flavor, and the historic Azabujuban shopping district. Let’s join the tour and enjoy the charm of the shopping district!

[Eligibility] Individuals of elementary school age or above who can understand English and walk the full length of the course

[Date & Time] Saturday, November 16, 10:00 - 12:30

[Course] Meeting at the entrance ticket gate of Azabujuban Station on the Ōedo Line - Walking through the Azabujuban shopping district - Tour ends at Zenpuku-ji Temple

[Capacity] 15 (by lottery). Write name of accompanying adult in the notes section.
