2.Let’s make a “My Number Card!” - Shopping with Myna Points

Myna Points is a system in which the national government awards points that can be used for shopping with cashless payment services to people who have set their My Key ID (and reserved Myna Points) with their My Number card. If customers shop by charging or making cashless payments, 25% of the payment or charge amount will be returned to the customer – up to a maximum of 5000 yen.

The following three steps are required to use Myna Points.

(1) Get a My Number Card

It takes about a month from the time of application to receive the My Number Card.

(2) Set a My Key ID (and reserve Myna Points)

If you have a card reader, you can set your My Key ID from your home computer. It can also be set from some smartphones.

Each Regional City Office provides support for My Number Card applications and the My Key ID setting procedure. For details, please see the July 11 issue of "Koho Minato".

(3) Apply for Myna Points (select cashless payment service)

Select one of the cashless payment services. Please note that you can only select one cashless payment service and cannot change it after submitting the application.

5.Confirmation of "fire ants" at the Oi container terminal in the Port of Tokyo (Shinagawa City)

On July 10, 2020, the existence of “fire ants” (Solenopsis invicta), an invasive alien species, was confirmed at Oi container terminal in the Port of Tokyo (Shinagawa City).

At this time more than 1500 individual fire ants have been discovered.

The fire ants found at Oi container terminal have not been found in residential areas.

The Ministry of the Environment and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will continue to collaborate with each other to conduct visual inspections and a trap installation survey at the location the ants were discovered as well as in the surrounding area.

Fire ants are extremely aggressive, dangerous insects. Their sting causes red, swollen spots that blister. If you encounter fire ants, do not touch or attempt to catch them with bare hands.
