1.Information about the COVID-19 pandemic

◇ If you become a “close contact”
・You are considered to be a “close contact” if you have been within 1 meter of a person infected with COVID-19 and had a conversation with that person lasting more than 15 minutes without wearing a mask. Risk of infection increases indoors.
・According to advisories issued by the national government, close contacts should self-quarantine at home for 14 days.
・In order to detect infections early, residents can opt to voluntarily take a PCR test even when asymptomatic. Residents in Minato City can undergo the test at public health centers and local clinics. Even a negative test result will not shorten the 14-day self-quarantine period.

◇ If you are “infected and recovering at home”
[Persons recovering at home]
・Eat healthy meals and get plenty of rest.
・Try to stay in separate rooms from others as much as possible and wear a mask when having conversations.
・Seal garbage bags tightly before disposal.

・If your condition worsens, please contact either ① or ② below.
① Minato Public Health Center 03-3455-4461 (weekdays: 8:30 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.)
② Tokyo Fever Consultation Center 03-5320-4592 (24 hours)

[Co-habitants]
・ Reduce the number of people caring for the sick person as much as possible (ideally, caregivers should not be pregnant women or others who have a chronic disease).
・Caregivers should wear masks when speaking with the person who is sick and wash hands with soap and water or disinfect with alcohol after interactions.
・ If a caregiver develops symptoms such as fever or coughing, consult your family doctor.

2.Stay healthy this winter by properly controlling humidity!

◇ Humidity should be kept at roughly 50%
The level of humidity should not be too high or too low. Low humidity can make you more susceptible to colds and flu, while high humidity may cause condensation and mold.

◇ Do you have condensation?
Condensation occurs when water vapor generated indoors cools and forms into water droplets. Especially in winter, in addition to water vapor generated by various daily activities, humidity can increase due to the overuse of humidifiers. Leaving condensation creates an environment in which mold grows easily and can cause allergic reactions. If condensation forms, wipe off any water droplets.

◇ Make sure to ventilate
Ventilation is also effective as a countermeasure against COVID-19 infections. Open two or more windows which are facing each other in order to create air flow. Always leave the 24-hour ventilation system switched on and make sure the air inlet on the wall of the room is open.
