Spring National Traffic Safety Campaign

Aiming to make Tokyo as the safest city in the world

April 10 is the Traffic Accident Elimination Day and April 6 to 15 is the National Traffic Safety Campaign week. There were 900 traffic accidents in the year 2020, an decrease of 356 accidents from the year 2019. Please obey traffic rules and manners to reduce traffic accidents.

Campaign Activities

  1. Maintaining the safety of children and senior pedestrians.
    (1) Ensuring pedestrians to follow traffic rules
    (2) Ensuring safety of pedestrians
  2. Promoting safe rides for cyclists.
    (1) Notice cyclists’ traffic rules
    (2) Ensuring safety of cyclists
  3. Raising awareness of driving safely
    (1) Promoting drivers’ following traffic rules
    (2) Preventing traffic accidents of senior drivers
  4. Prevention of two-wheel vehicle accidents.

Using smartphones while walking may lead to serious accidents. Please do not use smartphones while walking, as it may lead to serious accidents.

To guardians

Recently, the city receives many complaints about cyclists’ manners when accompanying children to kindergartens and nursery schools. When using sidewalks during road construction and other exceptional cases, please be careful with pedestrians, go slowly and take the carriageway side.
