Multilingual Service

Minato City is providing multilingual consultation services by consultants, and video interpretation services using portable voice translators and tablets.

Consultants for foreign residents

Consultations are available in Japanese and English.

Portable voice translators

You can talk in more than 80 languages through the translator.
Portable voice translators have been deployed at regional city offices, nursery schools, and elementary and junior high schools and others.

Multilingual interpretation services using tablets

Available languages: English, Chinese, Korean, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Nepali, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese.

Three-way telephone interpretation service

From April, a service to interpret conversations between foreign residents and Minato City staff over the phone was launched.
This service is available in the same 13 languages as the TV interpretation service that uses tablets.

Service hours

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
On Wednesdays, English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish interpretation is available until 7:15 p.m.
