Minato City issued the Declaration as a City of Peace on August 15, 1985, calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons and permanent world peace.
Based on this Declaration, Minato City is engaged in various activities towards the realization of world peace. As a part of these activities, in April 2010 we joined “Mayors for Peace,” a global coalition of cities that seeks the abolition of nuclear weapons.
Mayors for Peace currently has 8,037 member cities in 165 countries as of July 1, 2021.
Together with other cities around the world that are working towards the realization of world peace, Minato City will continue to send out message about the importance and preciousness of peace.
Minato City stands firmly behind its appeal for global peace and a world without nuclear weapons. The Peace Exhibition will be held at 5 venues in the city. Some materials related to war and peace were borrowed from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Admission is free. Programs may change without notice.
