Termination of the Registration for Motorcycles

Owners of light motor vehicles, such as motorcycles, electric bicycles, scooters or mini cars, are subject to a light vehicle tax (category base), which is imposed as of April 1. If for any reason you no longer own a tax-subjected light motor vehicle, please complete the registration termination procedures no later than March 31. If you fail to complete the procedures, you will be required to continue paying taxes in 2023 despite not owning a light motor vehicle.

Completing the procedures

For motorcycles up to 125cc, visit the Counter Services Subsections of Regional City Offices.
For two-wheeled vehicles over 125cc, visit the Tokyo Transport Branch Office, 1-12-17 Higashi-oi, Shinagawa City, Tel: 050-5540-2030
