Minato family

  • Grandpa A somewhat stubborn man, but a skilled geta sandal craftsman. Secretly hopes his grandson will master and continue his work.
  • Grandma Knows everything about the neighborhood. Loves to help people and chat, and is always at the center of the conversation.
  • Dad Born, raised in, and loves Minato City. Knows a lot about railways and is cheerful and helpful. Walks the family dog to stay fit.
  • Mom Stylish Mom is the pride of her children. Has a soft spot for temples and shrines, and window-shops at antique stores for a hobby.
  • Asami A sophomore at university. An avid reader and proficient in English. Looks like an ordinary young woman, but her ideal man is a writer from the Meiji period.
  • Koji A senior at high school. A natural athlete and a soccer player. Recently got a girlfriend and has discovered many local dating spots.

Port family

  • Mr. Port Once an international student, is proficient in Japanese. Has an interest in Japanese culture and history, and hopes to carry a mikoshi one day.
  • Mrs. Port Still learning Japanese, but is sociable and has made many new friends. Loves Japanese food and knows how to dress and wear kimono.
  • Ron Fourth-year elementary student. Dreams of becoming a baseball player. Is clever with his hands and can do most do-it-yourself projects.
  • Sally Three years old. Is happy about making new friends at the mom-and-child group she frequents with Mrs. Port. Is gifted at making up songs.
