City Overview, History
Minato City was established on March 15, 1947 when the three former towns of Akasaka, Azabu, and Shiba were merged into one municipality.
Minato City is located in the southeastern part of Tokyo and faces Tokyo Bay to the east. It borders Chuo City at its northern tip, the cities of Chiyoda and Shinjuku also to the north, Shibuya to the west, Shinagawa to the south, and Koto to the east.
It extends about 6.5 km north to south, and about 6.6 km east to west.
The total area of Minato City is 20.37㎢ as of April 1, 2023.
