The Disaster Messaging Service 171 is a voicemail box service that enables people to confirm the safety of people in the disaster-stricken area in the event of an earthquake or other largescale disaster. Use this phone number in the event of a severe disaster such as an earthquake. To record or replay messages, dial 171 and follow the instructions given. You can record a message up to 30 seconds long.
