Enrollment for April 2026 Shibaura Island Kodomoen – Four-Year-Olds (Type 1 Certification)
Applications are now open for enrollment in April 2026 for 4-year-olds at Shibaura Island Kodomoen under Type 1 Certification (Standard Educational Hours).
Eligibility
Four-year-olds: Born between April 2, 2021, and April 1, 2022
Available spots
10 (selected by lottery)
Application Requirements

- Residents of Minato City
- Those who will move into Minato City by the end of March 2026
*Only those who do not require childcare may apply under Type 1 Certification (Usage hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.). If childcare is needed, please apply under Type 2 Certification.
*Before- and after-school childcare is available. For details, please refer to the application guidelines.
*Applications cannot be submitted concurrently with city-operated kindergartens.

A document verifying your address
For those planning to move into the city:
A copy of the housing contract or equivalent
*The application guidelines and required forms can be downloaded from the Minato City website. They are also available at the Nu rsery School Section, Childcare Facilities Support Subsection (7th floor, City Office), Shibaura Island Kodomoen, or at the Residents Support Section, Health and Welfare Subsection of each Regional City Office.

Please submit your application by Friday, November 21 (must arrive by this date), either by mail or in person.
By mail:

In person:
Submit to the Nursery School Section, Childcare Facilities Support Subsection (7th floor, City Office),
Shibaura Island Kodomoen, or the Residents Support Section, Health and Welfare Subsection of each Regional City Office.
*Closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
Lottery Results:
The results of the lottery will be posted on the Minato City website around 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1.
