Go Go!! Bon Odori – Learn How to Put on a Yukata by Yourself

Participation Fee

Lesson fee: JPY 500
Yukata rental: JPY 4,000 (optional)

Eligibility

Open to everyone

*Lessons for men are available.
*Participants who use sign language or English to communicate are welcome.

Venue

Traditional Culture Exchange Center (After dressing in a yukata,
participants may join the Bon Odori festival (optional))

*Shibaura 2-Chome Summer Bon Odori Festival Scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (2-11-10 Shibaura)
*If the Bon Odori festival is canceled due to rain, a photo session and other activities will be held at the Center.

Application

Capacity: 30 participants per session
Advance reservations are accepted via event website or telephone.
Reserved participants will be given priority, and a limited number of same-day registrations may be available.

*Registration closes when capacity is reached. Final application deadline: July 10 (Fri)

What to Bring

  • Women: Yukata, Hanhaba obi or Heko obi sash, Geta sandals, Yukata undergarments (such as a hadajuban, susoyoke, or one-piece undergarment), Three waist cords (koshihimo), One datejime sash, Obi support board (obiita), and Three towels for body shaping
  • Men: Yukata, Kaku obi sash, Geta or Setta sandals, Undershirt with an open neckline, Lightweight shorts or traditional undergarments (such as suteteko), Two waist cords (koshihimo), and Two towels for body shaping
  • Children: Yukata, Hanhaba obi or Heko obi sash, Geta sandals or sandals, Undergarments, and One thin towel
