Immunization

Children who live in Minato City receive scheduled immunizations for Hib, BCG, and other diseases. The fee will not be charged. Influenza vaccinations are also administered to senior citizens. Non-Japanese individuals who are registered as foreign residents will receive pre-vaccination check sheets in the mail at the appropriate immunization periods. For details, contact the office below.

HIV Testing and Consultation

Minato City conducts testing for HIV and STIs twice a month. The test is free and anonymous. Consultations regarding HIV and STIs are also offered as needed.

Public Assistance with Infectious Disease Treatment Costs

Everyone should undergo a checkup for tuberculosis once a year. A public assistance system has been established to help reduce medical costs for those who contract tuberculosis.

Photochemical Smog

When a photochemical smog advisory is issued, Minato City notifies residents through broadcasts from a disaster prevention wireless system as well as Minato City website. When a photochemical smog advisory has been issued, avoid going outside as much as possible. If your eyes or throat hurts, wash your face and gargle immediately. After that, contact the Public Health and Disease Prevention Subsection of Public Health and Disease Prevention Section about your symptoms. On weekends, holidays, and after hours, contact the Tokyo Metropolitan Health and Medical Information Center (Himawari).

Minato City periodically offers its residents health checkup and dental checkups for lifestyle-related illnesses. Cancer screenings are also offered to promote the early detection of cancer.

Health Seminars/Lectures on Diet

Seminars and lectures on health promotion are held for people who live, work, and attend schools in Minato City. The purposes of these seminars and lectures are to help them maintain and improve their health, to prevent lifestyle-related illnesses, and to disseminate knowledge about disease prevention.

Specific Health Checkup/Designated Health Counseling

Health checkups and health counseling (specific health checkup and specific health guidance) are provided by Minato City to prevent and improve the symptoms of metabolic syndrome.

  1. Minato City will notify NHI insured residents aged 40 to 74 about these checkups.
  2. Make an appointment at the hospital. Take the checkup coupons, and your health insurance card, and receive the specific health checkup.
  3. Those whose checkup results show a need for improvement in their life-style habits are eligible for Designated Health Counseling. Minato City will send you documents, so you can receive the specific health guidance.
  4. Specialists are available to support practices aimed at preventing or improving metabolic syndrome, implemented based on the checkup findings and lifestyle habits.

Health Improvement Center “Healthyna”

Health Improvement Center“Healthyna”is a key station that supports the residents with health maintenance. Doctors, health exercise instructors, and registered dieticians and other professionals will conduct health and physical fitness checks (health level checks) and provide health promotion programs customized to the individual. In addition, yoga classes, other health classes, and various projects are also offered.

Home-based Palliative Cancer Care Support Center “UI KEA MINATO”

This center supports cancer patients and their families with home care so that they can continue living safely and comfortably in their community. It offers consultations on cancer treatment and home palliative care, consultations on improving physical appearance during cancer treatment, and cooking classes for cancer patients.
