Eligibility by Age

Children aged 4 (born between April 2, 2022, and April 1, 2023)

Application Eligibility

Minato City residents and those who are planning to move to Minato City by the end of March 2027

*Applications are accepted only for Category 1 Certification, which does not require childcare services. Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

1. Early Childhood Education Application Form
2. Consent Form
3. Proof of residence or a copy of a housing contract or other document confirming your planned residence.

By Mail: Applications must arrive by November 24 (Tue). Send to: Child-care Facilities Support Subsection, Nursery School Section, Minato City Hall,

In Person: Please submit your application to the Child-care Facilities Support Subsection, Nursery School Section (7th floor, Minato City Hall), Shibaura Island Children’s Garden (Kodomo-en), or Health and Welfare Subsection, Residents Support Section of each Regional City Office between November 11 (Wed) and November 24 (Tue), Monday to Friday (excluding national holidays).

Capacity

10 children (selected by lottery)
A lottery will be held only if the number of applications exceeds the available capacity. Applicants will be notified if a lottery is to be held.

Other Information

• Extended childcare is available before and after the regular hours. Please refer to the application guidelines for details.
• Applications for children aged 0 to 3 and for children aged 4 or 5 who require childcare and are eligible for Category 2 Certification (childcare certification)
  follow the same application procedures as licensed nursery schools. Please refer to the Guide to Nursery School Enrollment for more details.
• You may not apply for both Shibaura Island Children's Garden (Kodomo-en)
  and a municipal kindergarten.
