Termination of the Registration for Motorcycles

Owners of light motor vehicles, such as motorcycles, electric bicycles, scooters or mini cars, are subject to a light vehicle tax (category base), which is imposed as of 4/1. If for any reason you no longer own a tax-subjected light motor vehicle, please complete the registration termination procedures no later than 3/31. If you fail to complete the procedures, you will be required to continue paying taxes in 2024 despite not owning a light motor vehicle.

Completing the procedures

For motorcycles up to 125cc, visit the Counter Services Subsections of Regional City Offices. For two-wheeled vehicles over 125cc, visit the Tokyo Transport Branch Office, 1-12-17 Higashi-oi, Shinagawa City, Tel: 050-5540-2030
