水辺の散歩道 芝浦アイランド
水辺の散歩道として、今回は芝浦四丁目にある芝浦アイランドの遊歩道を紹介します。
As part of our series on waterfront walking paths, this time we introduce the Shibaura Island promenade in Shibaura 4-chome.
芝浦アイランドの対岸にある芝浦西運河沿緑地からは、芝浦アイランドと停泊中の船がよく見えます
From the green space along the Shibaura West Canal opposite Shibaura Island, you can enjoy a clear view of Shibaura Island and the ships anchored there.
”島びらき”から約20年
田町駅からレインボーブリッジ方面に8分ほど歩くと、高層マンション群が見えてきます。そこが運河に囲まれたまち”芝浦アイランド”です。
明治末期から大正時代に埋め立てられたのが芝浦地区の始まりで、現在の島の形はその頃にできました。その後は都電の操車場や製糖工場が中心となる工場地帯となっていましたが、再開発によって、平成19(2007)年、現在の高層マンション4棟に約1万人が住むまちに生まれ変わりました。スーパーマーケット、クリニック、公園、児童高齢者交流プラザなどの施設が充実し、暮らしやすいエリアとなっています。
さらに、豊かな水辺と緑に恵まれていることから、人と自然が共生するまちづくりにも力が注がれています。
About 20 Years Since the “Island Opening”
Walk about eight minutes from Tamachi Station toward Rainbow Bridge and you’ll see a cluster of high-rise apartment buildings. This is “Shibaura Island,” a neighborhood surrounded by canals.
The Shibaura district was formed by land reclamation projects from the late Meiji period through the Taisho era, creating the island’s present shape. Thereafter, it became an industrial zone centered around a streetcar depot and a sugar refinery.
Through redevelopment, however, it was transformed in 2007 (Heisei 19) into a residential community where approximately 10,000 people live in four high-rise apartment buildings. With a wide range of facilities including supermarkets, clinics, parks, and a community center for children and seniors, it has become a highly livable area.
What’s more, the area is blessed with abundant waterfront scenery and greenery, and is home to a community dedicated to creating a town where people and nature can coexist.
人と自然が共生するまち
芝浦アイランドの遊歩道の一番の魅力は、水辺沿いにぐるりと一周していることです。レンガ造りの遊歩道は約1.3kmあり、水辺を眺めて座れるベンチも多く、ゆったりと散歩ができます。
島一周の散歩は、実に変化に富んでいます。停泊する船に水辺らしさを感じながら歩いていくと、モノレールが突如頭上や目の前を通過するのに驚いたり、新幹線も見えてきます。船着場が多いこと、運河を通る船に出会うことも水辺ならではの特徴です。
水面を眺めていると、カルガモや魚に遭遇することも。多彩な花木たちの季節の移り変わりも楽しく、春はあちらこちらで桜が咲いています。夏はセミの大合唱がにぎやか。木陰で涼んでひと休みする時、豊かな緑が”島”の魅力であることをいっそう感じます。
住人はもちろん、近隣の皆さんにも親しまれ、ランニングやウォーキング、犬の散歩を楽しむ人たちが早朝から行き交います。潮風と自然を身近に感じられるこの遊歩道は、筆者もお気に入りの散歩コースです。
リラックスしたい気分の時には、芝浦アイランドののどかな遊歩道はおすすめです。ぜひ一度お立ち寄りください♪
プラタナス公園
公園のシンボルは、樹齢約100年の大きなプラタナス。テントが立ち並ぶマルシェ、芝浦アイランド島まつりなど、イベントが開催される時には多くの人でにぎわいます
Platanus Park : A plane tree approximately 100 years old serves as the park’s symbol. The park bustles with people especially during events like outdoor markets with their rows of tents and the Shibaura Island Festival.
A Town Where People and Nature Coexist
The greatest appeal of the Shibaura Island promenade is that it forms a complete loop around the waterfront. The brick-paved promenade stretches for about 1.3 km and features many benches where you can sit and enjoy the view of the water, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll.
A walk around the island offers ever-changing scenery. As you take in the waterfront atmosphere from the moored boats, you might be surprised to see a monorail suddenly pass overhead—or even right in front of you—and you might even catch a glimpse of the Shinkansen. The abundance of boat landings and the opportunity to encounter boats passing through the canal are unique features of this waterfront setting.
Gazing out over the water, you might spot some mallards or fish. The changing seasons are marked by a variety of delightful flowering trees and shrubs. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom all around you. In summer, the chorus of cicadas fills the air.
Take a break to cool off in the shade of the trees, and really experience how the lush greenery makes this “island” so charming.
Beloved not only by residents but also by people from surrounding neighborhoods, the promenade is bustling from early morning with people out running, strolling, or walking their dogs. This promenade, where you can feel the sea breeze and nature up close, is also a personal favorite of the author.
If you’re in the mood to relax, the peaceful promenade at Shibaura Island is highly recommended. Be sure to stop by sometime♪

そんな願いを叶えてくれるのが、芝浦アイランドの運河沿いにたたずむ「BAGUS BAR芝浦アイランド」です。
今回は、副店長の小山博基さんに、お店の魅力をたっぷり伺ってきました！

“最高”の時間を過ごせる場所
「BAGUS」とは、インドネシア語で「最高」という意味。社長さんが元バーテンダーだったこともあり、“最高のバー”という想いを込めて「BAGUS BAR」と名付けられたそうです。
お店に入ってまず目を引くのが、開放感あふれるテラス席。こちらはワンちゃん連れも大歓迎。道路とは反対側、運河に囲まれた立地だからこそ味わえる非日常感も、このお店ならではの魅力です。

毎日通いたくなるランチメニュー
平日のランチタイムには週替わりメニューが登場。サラダ、ご飯もの、パスタ、肉料理など、幅広いラインナップがそろっています。
そんな週替わりランチの中で、唯一ずっと変わらない人気メニューが「牛肉100％ハンバーグ」。なんと、静岡の某有名レストランと同じお肉を使用しているそうで、こだわりのミディアムレアで味わえます。
また、グランドメニューの中でも特に人気なのが、10年以上提供され続けている「コウイカ、アンチョビ、キャベツ、グラナチーズのペペロンチーノ」。長年通う常連さんからも愛されている、“BAGUS BARに欠かせない一皿”となっています。

カフェとして利用できるのも、このお店の隠れた魅力のひとつ。ランチとディナーの間も営業しているため、午後のカフェタイムにも気軽に立ち寄れます。
ケーキなどのデザートメニューも充実しており、常時4種類に加え、期間限定ケーキも2種類ほどが並ぶそうです。

取材中に驚いたのが、ドリンクメニューの豊富さ。見た目も華やかなノンアルコールカクテルをはじめ、コーヒー、紅茶、ジュース、そしてもちろんアルコール類まで、幅広くそろっています。
