We support singleparent families

The city has allowances and medical expense subsidy system for single-parent families, etc. living in the city. If you fall under any of the following categories, please consult with the Residents Support Section, Health and Welfare Subsection at the Regional City Office in your area to confirm whether or not you are eligible to apply.

Eligibility

Families that raise a child up until the first March 31st following the child’s 18th birthday and meet the criteria for being a single-parent family, etc., or equivalent circumstance as follows:

Reason for becoming a single-parent family, etc.

• Parents are divorced.
• Father or mother is deceased.
• Father or mother has a severe disability.
• Father or mother is missing or dead.
• Father or mother has abandoned the child for more than one year.
• Father or mother has a domestic violence protection order.
• Father or mother is detained by law for more than 1 year.
• Supporting a child born out of wedlock. (Except in cases where the relationship is similar to a de facto marriage.)

*Except when the child is enrolled in an institution (excluding daycare centers and other day-care facilities).
