2026 National Fall Traffic Safety Campaign

 

 

Wednesday, September 30 is Traffic Accident Fatality Zero Day. To promote compliance with traffic laws and encourage safe, courteous behavior on the road, Minato City, local police stations, traffic safety associations, and related organizations will sponsor a variety of traffic accident prevention activities. During the first half of 2026, there were 491 traffic accidents in Minato City (14 fewer than the same period last year), resulting in 558 people injured or killed (7 more than the same period last year).

Campaign Highlights

1. Improve pedestrian safety and encourage the use of reflective safety items
2. Turn on vehicle headlights at dusk and eliminate drunk driving and smartphone use while driving or walking
3. Promote an understanding of and compliance with traffic rules for bicycles and specified small motorized bicycles (electric scooters, etc.)
4. Prevent traffic accidents involving motorcycles
