Information on the Cost-of-Living Support Childrearing Allowance

Based on the Government’s Comprehensive Economic Measures to Achieve a Strong Economy and in order to provide robust support to childrearing households that are particularly affected by rising prices as well as to encourage the healthy growth of children, Minato City will pay a Cost-of-Living Support Childrearing Allowance of 20,000 yen per child.

Eligibility

1. Recipients of the Child Allowance for September 2025 (for children born in September 2025, the allowance for October 2025)
2. Children born between October 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026

• If you were receiving the Child Allowance in Minato City for September 2025, no application is required. A notice was mailed in late January, please check it.
• If you fall under (2) and your Child Allowance eligibility has been certified in Minato City, no application is required. Notices will be mailed sequentially.
• If you fall under (2) but have not applied for the Child Allowance in Minato City, you must apply for this allowance.

Amount of Payment

20,000 yen per eligible child (one-time payment)

For Public Employees

If you are currently receiving Child Allowance payments for September 2025 (for children born in September 2025, payments begin from October 2025), please apply to the municipality where your residence is registered (as of September 30, 2025).
For children born between October 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026, please apply to the municipality where your residence is registered at the time your Child Allowance eligibility is approved.
Please note that you must submit the application after obtaining certification of your allowance payment status from your employer in the section titled Public Employee Child Allowance Payment Status Certification on the application form.
