Notice of Childcare Fee Subsidy (Certified Nursery Facilities and Unlicensed Childcare Facilities)

To reduce the financial burden of childcare, Minato City provides childcare fee subsidies to parents or guardians of children enrolled in certified childcare centers or unlicensed childcare facilities.

Eligibility

Parents or guardians with a child who meets all of the following requirements:

1. The child is registered as a resident of Minato City and resides in the city.
2. The child has received Category 2 or Category 3 certification for either
   -Educational and Childcare Benefits, or
   -Facility Use Benefits.
3. The child must be enrolled in the same childcare facility for the entire month (from the first day to the last day of the eligible month) and have a monthly contract.

Subsidy Period

-The period during which the Educational and Childcare Benefit Certification or Facility Use Benefit Certification is valid.
-When the reason for requiring childcare is job seeking: up to three months from the start month of the subsidy.

*The subsidy does not apply during periods of parental leave for childcare for the eligible child.

Overview of the Subsidy

	Certified Nursery Facilities	Unlicensed Childcare Facilities (with Certificate of Compliance)
Eligible Facilities	Certified Nursery Facilities certified under standards independently established by Tokyo Metropolitan Government	Facilities that have received a Certificate of Compliance confirming that they meet the standards under the Guidelines for Unlicensed Childcare Facilities set by the national government, prefectures, or municipalities and have been confirmed by Minato City
Subsidy Amount	The difference in childcare fees between Certified Nursery Facilities and Licensed Nursery Schools is subsidized.	The subsidy is provided for the difference between the childcare fee at an authorized childcare center and the lower of either the childcare fee at an unlicensed childcare facility or the subsidy standard amount (JPY 97,000 for children aged 3–5 and JPY 100,000 for children aged 0–2).
Method of Subsidy	The subsidy is provided to guardians through the Certified Nursery Facilities the child attends. *Methods may vary by facility.	The subsidy is provided by bank transfer to the guardian’s designated account, four times a year.
Application Method	Please submit the subsidy application documents to the certified Nursery facilities each fiscal year.
