The 44th Disability Week Commemorative Event —Gathering for Living Together

December 3rd to 9th is Disability Week. This week is designated to deepen the understanding of disabilities and persons with disabilities and to promote participation in society. Through various programs, we invite everyone to think and enjoy the events together. On the day of the event, welfare booths operated by facilities for people with disabilities in the ward will sell bread, cookies, and small merchandise. There will also be an experience corner for invisible or low vision simulations and a guide dog interaction corner.

*Sign language interpretation and summary writing are available.

Program

Part 1 – Commemorative Ceremony
(1) The mayor will present letters of appreciation to companies, organizations, and individuals who have shown outstanding understanding and contributions toward persons with disabilities.
(2) Awards ceremony for winners of the Disability Week Commemorative Poster Contest.
Part 2 – Educational Program Theme: Understanding Visual
Impairment
Content: Lecture and demonstration by the East Japan Guide Dog Association (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation).
Part 3 – Performance
(1) Dance performance by Tokai University Takanawadai High School
(2) Chorus by Shibahama Elementary School
