The National Spring Traffic Safety Campaign in 2026

To encourage residents to comply with traffic rules and practice proper traffic manners, Minato City is working in partnership with local police stations, traffic safety associations, and other related organizations to implement a range of traffic accident prevention initiatives.
In 2025, there were 1,004 traffic accidents in Minato City (111 fewer than the previous year), with 1,123 people injured or killed (110 fewer than the previous year).

Period

April 6 (Mon) – April 15 (Wed)
April 10 (Fri) is designated as Zero Traffic Fatalities Day.
Let us strictly observe traffic rules and practice proper manners to eliminate tragic traffic accidents.

Campaign Priorities

  1. Ensuring the safety of pedestrians, especially children, on school routes and residential streets
  2. Eliminating distracted smartphone use while walking and promoting safe driving practices, including prioritizing pedestrians
  3. Strengthening understanding and compliance with traffic rules for bicycles and specified small motorized bicycles
  4. Preventing traffic accidents involving motorcycles
